Food Network is starting the new year with a kitchen challenge built on equal parts learning and comedy. Worst Cooks in America: Reality Check arrives Sunday, January 4 at 8pm ET/PT, with episodes streaming the next day on HBO Max. Chefs Jeff Mauro and Tiffany Derry lead a group of celebrity beginners through a boot camp where they compete in weekly challenges for a $25,000 charity prize.
The season brings together familiar faces from TV, sports, and music. The recruits include Lisa Barlow, Downtown Julie Brown, Val Chmerkovskiy, Reza Farahan, Amara La Negra, Ryan Lochte, Manila Luzon, Romeo Miller, Beverley Mitchell, and CT Tamburello. Each steps into the kitchen with confidence, even if cooking is not their strong suit.
In the premiere, the chefs watch the group attempt a baseline dish to show what they can do on their own. Some hit the mark, while others reveal just how steep the learning curve will be. From there, Mauro and Derry begin teaching fundamentals with a Piri Piri chicken challenge, ending with a blind cook-off for the weakest performers.

The season’s challenges keep the pressure moving. Blockbuster Bites draws ideas from movie genres, The Worst Lotus turns a faux resort into a relay course, and Agents of Flavor sends recruits searching for ingredients to decode a mystery dish. The finale on February 1 has the top two contestants preparing a three-course meal for guest judges.
Food Network will share behind-the-scenes looks, updates, and extra demos from the mentors as the season unfolds. With a lively cast and steady kitchen chaos, Worst Cooks in America: Reality Check offers an easy, playful watch for cooking competition fans.
