Fleetwood Mac: The Chain will premiere globally on Apple TV on Friday, Jan. 29, 2027. Frank Marshall directs the fully authorized documentary, which looks back at the band's music and the relationships behind it.
The newly announced title and release date follow Apple's first announcement of the project in November 2024. The film includes new interviews and previously unseen footage, with contributions from Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.
Christine McVie, who died in November 2022, appears through archival interviews, according to Apple's original announcement. Her contribution allows the film to include perspectives from all five members of the Rumours lineup.
The premiere arrives six days before the 50th anniversary of Rumours, released Feb. 4, 1977. The album won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 1978 and includes Dreams, Go Your Own Way and The Chain.

The Chain is the only song on Rumours credited to all five members. Apple says the documentary's title reflects the bond that kept the musicians connected through personal conflict and years of recording and touring.
Marshall's previous music documentaries include The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart and The Beach Boys. He produces the new film through The Kennedy/Marshall Company alongside White Horse Pictures.
Producer Nigel Sinclair's previous work includes documentaries about the Beatles and Bob Dylan. Nicholas Ferrall, Jeanne Elfant Festa and Aly Parker also produce. Mark Monroe is the writer and an executive producer.
