What to Know
  • Season 3 is confirmed; Season 2 returns Nov. 26 with eight episodes.
  • Season 2 adds John Stamos, Kim Matula and more to the cast.

Netflix has ordered a third season of The Hunting Wives before the drama’s second season has even premiered. The renewal keeps the story of Sophie O’Neil (Brittany Snow) and Margo Banks (Malin Åkerman) alive beyond their November return to Maple Brook, Texas.

The announcement follows a strong first season for the Lionsgate Television series. Netflix says the drama has collected more than 35 million views since its July 2025 debut.

The first season spent five weeks in Netflix’s global Top 10 English-language television list and reached No. 1 in 10 countries, including the United States.

Audience response was more divided than the viewing figures alone might suggest. Rotten Tomatoes lists an 81% critics’ score and a 65% audience score for the first season.

Creator and showrunner Rebecca Cutter (Hightown) told Netflix Tudum that she is pleased with how the Season 3 scripts are developing. She also expects the characters’ world and the stakes to grow.

In Netflix’s renewal announcement, Cutter offered a preview of her plans.

“I’m so stoked to be heading back to Maple Brook, and I promise that once you’ve finished Season 2, you’ll be desperate to see what happens next. Buckle up, because Season 3 will be even more scandalous and twisted.”

The show began with Sophie, an East Coast transplant, drawn into Margo’s wealthy Texas social circle. Their relationship became tied to secrets, betrayal and murder.

Season 2 arrives November 26 with eight episodes and new cast members, including John Stamos (Palm Royale), Kim Matula (LA to Vegas) and Dale Dickey (True Blood). Netflix has also released a trailer for the new episodes.

May Cobb, who wrote the original novel, and Erwin Stoff of 3 Arts Entertainment are executive producers alongside Cutter. Netflix has not announced a Season 3 premiere date or confirmed its returning cast.
