The Kwanzaa Regeneration Celebration arrives at the Hostos Center for the Arts & Culture on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at 3:00 PM, bringing together dance, music, and community under one roof. The performance is presented by Forces of Nature Dance Theatre, led by choreographer Abdel R. Salaam, and features FIYAA, the company’s youth division, along with The Women of the Calabash. The afternoon event honors Kwanzaa and its core values, welcoming audiences to the Main Theater at Hostos Community College, located at 450 Grand Concourse in The Bronx.

The performance is part of the weeklong observance of Kwanzaa, a cultural holiday celebrated from December 26 through January 1 that centers African American history, values, and community. This event reflects those ideas through movement and sound, with dance drawn from across the African Diaspora, live music, and spoken word elements woven throughout the program. The goal is simple and clear: to bring people together through shared culture and creative expression.

Forces of Nature Dance Theatre has been part of New York’s cultural landscape for more than four decades. Founded in 1981, the company is known for blending traditional African and African Diaspora dance with contemporary forms. Under Salaam’s direction, its work often focuses on connection, continuity, and the role of the arts in community life. Those values are especially present in this Kwanzaa-centered program.

Borí Books & Café is no longer an idea in motion. It is already showing up for writers, readers, and communities across New York City.

A key part of the performance is FIYAA, short for Forces Incredible Youth Arts Alliance. FIYAA is the youth division of Forces of Nature Dance Theatre and focuses on hip hop based movement and youth development through the arts. Their participation adds a multigenerational element to the celebration, connecting young performers with long-standing cultural traditions.

In addition to the performance, audiences are invited to take part in the Ujima Kwanzaa Market, open from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the Hostos Center lobby. Ujima represents cooperative economics, one of the seven principles of Kwanzaa. The market offers a space for community members to support vendors and do some holiday shopping before or after the show.

Together, the performance and market offer a welcoming way to mark Kwanzaa in The Bronx, bringing culture, creativity, and community into a shared space.
