Tyler Perry’s Where There’s Smoke: Meet the Cast of Netflix Firefighter Series

Netflix has started production on Tyler Perry’s Where There’s Smoke, a new firefighter drama series created by Tyler Perry under his multi-year first-look deal with the streaming platform. The 16-episode hour-long series is written, directed, and produced by Perry and is currently filming in Atlanta, Georgia. Netflix has not announced a release date.
According to the official description, the series follows a group of firefighters as they face the constant pressure of emergency calls while managing complicated personal lives away from the firehouse. The drama focuses on the emotional toll that comes with saving lives in dangerous situations while dealing with fractured relationships and everyday struggles.

Inside the firehouse, several members of the team will drive the story of emergency calls and life between shifts. Tyler Lepley plays Owen after appearing in the Prime Video series Harlem and in Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots as Benny Young.
Mike Merrill plays Cameron and previously appeared in The Black Hamptons and Finding Happy. He also portrayed Detective Grimes in the Taraji P. Henson led film Straw. Da’Vinchi, known for his role as Terry “Southwest T” Flenory in the Starz drama BMF and for appearances in All American, plays Noah.
Eltony Williams appears as Jermaine and has more than forty television credits, including If Loving You Is Wrong, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and True Detective.

The station crew also includes Brock O’Hurn, Joe Hunter, Karen Obilom, and Brittany S. Hall. O’Hurn plays Ethan and has appeared in Euphoria and The Righteous Gemstones, along with the film Boo! A Madea Halloween and its sequel. Hunter plays Chief Bailey and is known to reality television audiences from Survivor seasons 48 and 50.
Obilom appears as Laura after previously playing Roni Evers in season two of Doom Patrol and appearing in the 2023 remake of House Party. Hall plays Angela and is known for her roles in Finding Joy and Ballers. Her independent film work includes the Award This! Indie Drama winner Single Mother by Choice and two Gotham Award nominations.

The wider cast includes Mariah Goodie, Jordan Rodriguez, and Judi Moon. Goodie plays Rhonda and has appeared in The Message and The Messenger while also performing in the Fade to Black Theatre Festival. Rodriguez plays Brent and is known for roles in Jane the Virgin, Awkward, and the film The Chicken. Moon plays Darcy and previously appeared as Robin Cross in the series Double Cross.
The series comes from Tyler Perry Studios, where Perry serves as writer, director, and producer. Angi Bones and Tony Strickland are also producing the project. The production is part of Perry’s ongoing creative partnership with Netflix to develop original films and television series for the platform.
Production is currently underway in Atlanta, with more details about the series expected as filming continues.
One thing viewers often watch for in ensemble dramas like this is how the different personalities inside the station interact under pressure. Firehouse dramas have long relied on strong character chemistry as much as action scenes, something television viewers have followed in past emergency response series.
