Imagine being swept into the depths of the ocean aboard the Nautilus, a submarine captained by the fiercely independent Captain Nemo, who has forsaken the surface world for the mysteries below.

AMC released the official trailer for Nautilus, its upcoming 10-episode series based on Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. The show premieres Sunday, June 29, at 9 p.m. ET/PT with two back-to-back episodes on AMC and AMC+. New episodes follow weekly, with the season wrapping on August 17. For longtime sci-fi fans and new viewers alike, this is a chance to see Nemo's journey reimagined with modern urgency and a powerful cast.

Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery) stars as Captain Nemo, once an Indian prince, now a prisoner stripped of his family and freedom by the East India Mercantile Company. Rather than submit, Nemo seizes a prototype submarine from the penal colony and vanishes into the ocean's unknowns with a ragtag crew of fellow escapees. His mission? Find the legendary Viking treasure hidden at the Pillars of Halvar — and take revenge on the empire that stole his past.

But the sea isn't the only thing standing in his way. Trust among the crew is hard-earned, and the East India Mercantile Company is closing in fast.

In addition to Latif, the cast includes Georgia Flood (Apples Never Fall) as Humility Lucas, Céline Menville (Emily in Paris) as Loti, and Thierry Frémont (Liaison) as Benoit. Oscar nominees Richard E. Grant, Anna Torv, and Noah Taylor appear as guest stars throughout the season.

Behind the scenes, Nautilus comes from Moonriver TV's Xavier Marchand and Seven Stories' Anand Tucker. James Dormer wrote and executive produced the series, alongside a team that includes Johanna Devereaux, Chris Loveall, Colleen Woodcock, and Daisy Gilbert. Direction is led by Michael Matthews, and production took place in Australia with support from both national and Queensland film initiatives.

While many viewers know Nemo as a daring explorer, Nautilus leans deeper into the personal — revenge, resilience, and reclaiming one's narrative. It's not just a tale of underwater marvels and sea monsters; it's about what drives someone to disappear beneath the waves, and what they hope to find when they do.

Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is more than just a tale of exploration — it's a profound meditation on freedom, revenge, and the allure of the unknown, making it one of the most enduring works of science fiction. Now, fans of the story will get to see it come to life.
