What to Know
• All eight episodes arrive on November 25 on Prime Video.
• The series stars Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer.

Los Angeles no longer belongs to humanity in Blade Runner 2099. Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once) and Hunter Schafer (Euphoria) star in the eight-episode limited series, which premieres globally November 25, 2026 on Prime Video with all episodes arriving together.

The story begins 50 years after Blade Runner 2049. Schafer plays Cora, a human fugitive who takes on one last identity as a Blade Runner. She is forced to work with Olwen, a Replicant played by Yeoh who has only days left to live. Their target is a runaway carrying a secret that could bring down their fragile city.

That city has changed in a way that gives the familiar conflict a new center. Showrunner Silka Luisa (Shining Girls) has said a Replicant uprising and war occurred after 2049, humans lost, and Replicants now hold power. She described the new visual approach as “sunshine noir,” replacing much of the franchise’s rain and snow with hard light, heat, and deep shadows.

New viewers do not need to complete a long watchlist first. Executive producer Andrew Kosove said the series was designed to work as a standalone story, while longtime fans will find connections to Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner and Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049.

Dimitri Abold (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) and Lewis Gribben (Somewhere Boy) are also series regulars. The recurring cast includes Sheila Atim (The Woman King), Matthew Needham (House of the Dragon), Tom Burke (Furiosa), and Maurizio Lombardi (Ripley).

Luisa serves as showrunner, with Scott among the executive producers. Jonathan van Tulleken (Shogun) directed the first two episodes. Luisa has called the series a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end, so viewers should expect one contained season. Episode runtimes and an age rating have not been announced.
