What to Know
Netflix’s The Body premieres November 11, 2026.
Season three Traitor winner Gabby Windey joins the cast.
A Catholic school dance team, a ritual gone wrong, and a secret nobody wants uncovered. The upcoming series ‘The Body’ takes teenage drama into some strange territory, mixing dark comedy, supernatural scares, and a mystery that leaves an entire town asking what happened to one of its girls. The eight-episode series premieres Wednesday, November 11 on Netflix.
The trouble begins on Halloween night when the Lions dance team performs a drug-fueled initiation involving its newest recruit, Grace Franklin, played by Sofia Wylie (High School Musical: The Series).
Team captains Anya Butler, played by Kristina Bogic (Playing Gracie Darling), and Elise Zakaria, played by Sara Boustany (PEN15), oversee the ritual. But something goes terribly wrong. Soon, prophetic visions and strange events spread through the community, leaving the girls with a secret they cannot easily explain.
The cast includes The Traitors winner Gabby Windey as Coach Miller, Geena Meszaros (Wayward) as Lisbeth Anderson, Shirley Chen (Didi) as Maddie Delaney, and Nnamdi Asomugha (The Knife) as Father Franklin.
Louisa Krause (The Dive), Jackson Kelly (The Pitt), Ashley Madekwe (The Umbrella Academy) and Marcel Ruiz (One Day at a Time) also appear.
Creator Quinn Shephard, whose credits include the Emmy-nominated mystery Under the Bridge, describes The Body as a personal story influenced by her teenage experiences.
“I literally made this for my teen self,” Shephard told Netflix’s Tudum. “Tonally, I would describe the show as gritty camp. It’s a raunchy teen psychodrama with a dash of Catholic horror.”

Shephard originally wrote the series in her early twenties. Years later, revisiting the material helped her recognize the humor in experiences she once considered deeply serious.
The series draws inspiration from Carrie, Jennifer’s Body, Mean Girls, and Arthur Miller’s 1953 The Crucible.
Shephard also praised her young cast, revealing that Bogic learned an American accent for her role as Anya.
The production reunites Shephard with Riley Keough, who starred in and executive produced Under the Bridge. Keough serves as an executive producer on The Body alongside Gina Gammell and other producers.
Filmed in Canada, The Body may be best enjoyed with a few friends. Shephard recommends turning the premiere into an old-fashioned high school slumber party. “I hope people eat popcorn while they watch this, even when The Body hits hard,” she says. “Maybe light some candles.”
