Little Disasters will premiere all six episodes on Thursday, December 11, on Paramount+. The psychological thriller follows four friends whose lives begin to unravel after a baby is brought to the hospital with an injury that has no clear explanation, sparking a decision that carries heavy consequences.
The series comes from Roughcut Television in association with Fremantle and first debuted earlier this year on Paramount+ in the U.K. and Ireland. It drew attention overseas for its grounded performances and the way it handles the pressures of early motherhood. The U.S. rollout brings the story to a wider audience, and the creative team kept the focus tight on the emotional stakes that come with loyalty, fear, and trust among longtime friends.
Based on Sarah Vaughan’s novel, the story centers on Jess, Liz, Charlotte, and Mel, who met more than ten years ago while pregnant at the same time. Their bond carried them through the early years of raising kids, building a friendship that became part of their daily lives.
When Jess, played by Diane Kruger, rushes her baby to the emergency room with a head injury she cannot explain, Liz, played by Jo Joyner, is the doctor on duty. She must choose whether to contact social services, a single step that sends shockwaves through their families and their once-steady friendship.

Did you know that before Twilight, True Blood, and even Buffy had fully staked their claim, one soap opera quietly let vampires run wild in the afternoon?

The cast also includes Shelley Conn, Emily Taaffe, JJ Feild, Ben Bailey Smith, Patrick Baladi, and Stephen Campbell Moore. Director Eva Sigurðardóttir leads the series. The adaptation for television comes from writers Ruth Fowler and Amanda Duke, with Sarah Vaughan serving as an executive producer as well.
From its description, the series appears ready to raise questions about responsibility, trust, and the choices that can shift a friendship. How those ideas play out on screen will be worth watching.
