While I know some hardcore horror fans might disagree, Stephen King's 1990 'IT miniseries' scared the heck out of me when I was a kid. Granted, I've always been a lightweight when it comes to the horror genre. I remember thinking it wouldn't be too scary with John Ritter in it. Normally, I wouldn't revisit a story about a terrifying, child-killing demon clown, but I have to admit, I'm looking forward to HBO's new series.

Prepare for more chills and thrills in Derry, Maine, as HBO dives deeper into the creepy world of Stephen King's IT. The highly anticipated prequel series, IT: Welcome to Derry is set to debut in 2025. Here's everything you need to know about the cast, story, and what to expect from this haunting expansion of the IT universe.

From The Masters

Andy and Barbara Muschietti reflect on their journey: "As teenagers, we took turns reading chapters of Stephen King's 'IT' until the thick paperback fell to pieces. 'IT' is an epic story that contains multitudes, far beyond what we could explore in our 'IT' movies. We can't wait to share the depths of Steve's novel, in all its heart, humor, humanity, and horror."

Stephen King himself expressed his excitement: "I'm excited that the story of Derry, Maine's most haunted city, is continuing, and I'm glad Andy Muschietti is going to be overseeing the frightening festivities, along with a brain trust including his talented sister, Barbara. Red balloons all around!"

The Creative Team

Filming is taking place in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, promising a visually captivating setting that is perfect for the dark, haunting narrative of Derry. The series is written by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs, and produced by Warner Bros. Television and HBO. Fuchs wrote the first episode and co-showruns the series with Brad Caleb Kane.

With what we witnessed in the films, and with its backstory, expanded lore, and chilling origins of Pennywise, IT: Welcome to Derry will be a fun must-watch for fans of Stephen King and horror fans alike. HBO's reputation for high-quality storytelling ensures this prequel will deliver some scares in the new year.
