A new group of teens encounters the hook-wielding killer, and two familiar faces return for the bloodshed.
I Know What You Did Last Summer is heading back to theaters on Friday, July 18, 2025, featuring a new cast, new victims, and a few returning survivors. The film, distributed by Sony Pictures, brings the slasher franchise back to the big screen nearly three decades after the original 1997 hit. Showtimes will vary by location, but fans can catch it exclusively in movie theaters beginning opening weekend.
This version follows five friends who accidentally kill someone in a late-night crash and then make a pact to keep it buried. As the anniversary of the incident approaches, a killer with a hook and a vendetta resurfaces. As the bodies begin to drop, the group uncovers a chilling twist: this isn’t the first time it’s happened. To survive, they’ll need help from the only people who lived through the original massacre.

With familiar faces and a sharper edge, the new I Know What You Did Last Summer aims to reintroduce the slasher to a new generation and maybe give longtime fans some long-awaited closure.
After all, secrets don't stay buried, and neither do slashers.
