Ella Rubin Joins Netflix Mystery Series' The God of the Woods'

Ella Rubin is heading deeper into the streaming world with a major new Netflix role. The actress, who recently appeared in The Idea of You and the horror film Until Dawn, has joined Netflix's upcoming drama series The God of the Woods.
Based on Liz Moore's novel, the drama series is a multi-generational mystery set in the Adirondacks. The story centers on the wealthy Van Laar family and the disappearance of 13-year-old Barbara Van Laar from the family's summer camp. The case unfolds against the backdrop of an earlier tragedy that may be connected, pulling dark family secrets and class divisions to the surface.
Rubin will play Louise Donnadieu, a working-class counselor at Camp Emerson whose life changes after one of the campers disappears. Netflix confirmed the role will be a series regular.
The project comes from co-showrunners and executive producers Liz Hannah and Liz Moore. Hannah is known for her work on Mindhunter and The Post, while Moore previously adapted Long Bright River for television.

"We love making TV and can't wait to bring The God of the Woods to life with our partners at Sony and Netflix," Moore and Hannah tell Netflix. "We hope everyone falls in love (and hate) with these characters as much as we have."
Rubin joins an already high-profile cast that includes Kerry Condon (F1) and Maya Hawke (Stranger Things).
The casting news continues a busy stretch for Rubin, who is also attached to the upcoming series adaptation of The Boys from Brazil and recently appeared in Anora, the Sean Baker drama that went on to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
