The Sun Never Sets, the newest romantic drama from writer-director Joe Swanberg (Drinking Buddies), is heading to U.S. theaters later this year, following a major acquisition by Independent Film Company and Sapan Studio. The announcement comes after the film's well-received world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival, where it drew attention for its heartfelt storytelling and strong performances.

Set against the rugged beauty of Alaska, The Sun Never Sets stars Dakota Fanning (Ripley) as Wendy, whose world is turned upside down when her boyfriend Jack, played by Jake Johnson (Maximum Pleasure), asks for space to rethink their relationship. As Wendy navigates this new chapter, she reconnects with her ex, Chuck, portrayed by Cory Michael Smith (May December), setting off a love triangle that challenges each character to reconsider their views on love, timing, and personal growth.

The film also features Debby Ryan (Insatiable), Anna Konkle (PEN15), Lamorne Morris (New Girl), and Karley Sciortino (Slutever) in supporting roles. This marks Swanberg's tenth collaboration with Independent Film Company, highlighting a longstanding creative partnership.

Production credits include Johnson, Fanning, Smith, Swanberg, and Ashleigh Snead as producers, with executive production by Dan Johnson, Kathryn Gitibin Parsa, and Ariana Parsa. The acquisition deal was handled by Ayo Kepher-Maat for Independent Film Company and Jake Carter of UTA for the filmmakers.

Audiences can expect The Sun Never Sets to bring a fresh, authentic perspective to the complexities of modern relationships when it arrives in theaters nationwide later this year.
