A tight, cinematic close-up from the Netflix adult animated series Bass X Machina featuring the protagonist, Bass (voiced by Brian Tyree Henry). He has a stern, intense expression with furrowed brows and a thick mustache. A prominent vertical scar runs through his right eyebrow. The art style is detailed and gritty, utilizing sharp shadows and a warm, dusty color palette that evokes a lawless steampunk Western setting.

Netflix will debut the adult animated series Bass X Machina on October 6, 2026, led by Oscar, Emmy and Tony Award nominee Brian Tyree Henry, who both stars and serves as executive producer. The series blends Western, sci-fi, and steampunk elements in a story set in a lawless frontier overrun by brutal outlaws, machines, and supernatural threats.

Henry voices Bass, a father forced to become judge, jury, and executioner to protect his family. According to Netflix’s logline, every act of justice may ultimately cost him the very people he is trying to save.

The voice cast includes Janelle Monáe as Glory, Tati Gabrielle as Dana, Cree Summer as Ahni, Chaske Spencer as Lighthorse, Currie Graham as Rivenbark, and Starletta DuPois as Etta.

Medium shot of Bass (voiced by Brian Tyree Henry) from Bass X Machina. He is shown from the chest up, looking off-camera with a determined, hardened stare. He wears a beige western-style duster coat over a dark shirt. His right arm is prominently revealed to be a complex, heavy-duty mechanical prosthetic made of dark metal and copper-toned pistons, symbolizing the "Machina" element of the steampunk series. The background is a blurred, sun-drenched desert landscape.

The series is executive produced by Henry, LeSean Thomas, Jennifer Wiley-Moxley, and Chad Handley. Thomas is known for bridging Western storytelling and anime-style action, and his involvement signals that Bass X Machina may lean heavily into dynamic, high-impact fight choreography rather than traditional television animation pacing.

Animation is handled by Studio Mir, the studio behind projects such as The Legend of Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender. Studio Mir has developed a reputation for cinematic movement and detailed action sequences, making it a notable choice for a steampunk Western built around outlaw battles and mechanical threats.

Original music comes from Roman GianArthur and Nate Wonder at Wondaland, adding another distinctive layer to the series’ identity. With its mix of Western iconography, supernatural terror, and anime-influenced action, Bass X Machina positions itself as a genre hybrid rather than a conventional animated drama.

Netflix has not yet released a trailer, but the combination of prestige talent, established animation pedigree and a darker adult tone suggests the streamer is aiming for a visually ambitious entry in its growing animated slate.
