Peacock Shares First Look At Summer Thriller Strung Starring Chloe Bailey

Malcolm D. Lee is bringing a new psychological thriller to screens this summer with the upcoming film Strung. The movie will premiere on Friday, June 26, 2026, marking a notable genre shift for the filmmaker.
The story follows a talented violinist who accepts a prestigious job as a music tutor to the gifted daughter of an influential, enigmatic family. As she becomes entangled in their opulent world, unsettling secrets surface. The situation forces her to question her safety, her dreams, and her sanity.
The film features an ensemble cast including Chloe Bailey (Grown-ish), Lynn Whitfield (The Chi), Lucien Laviscount (Emily in Paris), Anna Diop (Titans), Coco Jones (Bel-Air), and Romy Woods (Abbott Elementary).

Lee, known for directing comedy and drama projects like The Best Man, steps into the suspense genre for the first time with this project. He directed the movie from a script written by Alan McElroy, whose writing credits include Spawn and Star Trek: Discovery.

The production brings together major industry names, including producers Tyler Perry, Jason Blum, Tim Palen, and Dominique Telson, alongside Lee. The film is produced by Peachtree and Vine and Blumhouse, in association with Blackmaled Productions.
Lee shared his vision for the project, noting that the script drew him to the genre. "I love a good suspense thriller and a solid narrative that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats," Lee said. "I hadn't had the privilege of directing a film in this genre, but when I read Alan McElroy's script, I knew I had to dip my toe in this water."
The director added that the script's twists and turns motivated him to put his own stamp on the genre. He stated that the film draws viewers in with a combination of lush visuals, captivating performances, and a riveting soundtrack.
