ABC may be heading deeper into the world of medical dramas with a new project connected to Grey's Anatomy, this time with a Texas setting.
According to Deadline, ABC is developing a potential spinoff tied to the Grey's Anatomy franchise, with Shonda Rhimes and Meg Marinis serving as co-creators. The report states the project is currently in development and would move the franchise outside Seattle for the first time in a major way.
Details about the series remain limited, including whether any established Grey's Anatomy characters would appear. ABC has not announced a premiere date or confirmed a series order.

The original Grey's Anatomy debuted in 2005 and became one of television's longest-running scripted primetime dramas. The series, led for many years by Ellen Pompeo, helped launch multiple spinoffs and crossover stories over the years, including Station 19 and Private Practice.
Moving the franchise to Texas could also give ABC an opportunity to introduce a different regional backdrop while keeping the fast-paced hospital format that helped make Grey's Anatomy a staple of network television for nearly two decades.
The development news arrives as the original series continues its historic run on ABC. While streaming and viewing habits have shifted dramatically since Grey's Anatomy first premiered, the franchise remains one of the network's most recognizable television brands.
In fact, Season 22 ranked in the top 10 of network ratings, with an average rating of 1.29 among Adults 18–49, including multiplatform and delayed viewing.
For now, ABC has only confirmed the project is in development, leaving questions about casting, story details, and how closely the new series may connect to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital unanswered.
