A new adaptation of Wuthering Heights is headed to theaters, with Warner Bros. Pictures confirming that the film will open nationwide on February 13, 2026. Directed by Emerald Fennell, the movie stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, who lead a cast bringing Emily Brontë’s story of turbulent love and fractured loyalty to a new audience. Early details describe the film as a Gothic psychological drama centered on the intense relationship between the characters Heathcliff and Catherine.

Fennell directs from her own screenplay, continuing her collaboration with LuckyChap Entertainment. The film is produced by Josey McNamara, Fennell, and Robbie, with Sara Desmond and Tom Ackerley serving as executive producers. The project is being released by Warner Bros. Pictures and MRC, and will roll out internationally starting February 11, ahead of the U.S. premiere.

The cast features several actors known for distinct and varied roles. Robbie and Elordi lead the film, joined by Hong Chau, Shazad Latif, Alison Oliver, Martin Clunes, and Ewan Mitchell. Warner Bros. describes the story as a passionate and turbulent love story set on the Yorkshire moors, following the destructive emotional pull between Catherine and Heathcliff. While the original novel was published in 1847, this film takes a looser approach, shaping its own interpretation under Fennell’s direction.

Charli XCX will release a 12-song companion album titled Wuthering Heights on the same day the film opens. She recently shared the song “House,” a collaboration with John Cale, as the first preview of the project.

Fennell’s previous films drew attention for their sharp perspective and attention to character conflict. With Wuthering Heights, she takes on one of literature’s most debated relationships, known for its cycles of devotion, resentment, and emotional ruin. The moors, long tied to Brontë’s novel, remain central to the story’s atmosphere.

Although the studio has not released additional plot specifics, the film is being described as a psychological drama rather than a direct retelling, giving viewers reason to expect a focused but intense character study.

Wuthering Heights arrives at a moment when audiences continue to seek new interpretations of classic stories. The official description points toward a film rooted in emotional tension and the consequences of obsession. There is still more to learn about how closely this version will follow the novel, but its cast and creative team make it a project worth keeping an eye on as 2026 approaches.
