Wave Hill offers birding, art tours, and family activities in August.
The summer programs run from August 6 to August 9.
Wave Hill is welcoming August with a series of programs that invite visitors to enjoy nature, art, and family activities at the Bronx public garden. From guided bird walks and gallery tours to hands-on art inspired by Claude Monet, the events offer something for visitors of all ages during the first full weekend of the month.
The programs take place Aug. 6 through Aug. 9. Most activities are free with admission to the grounds, and advance registration is not required, making it easy for visitors to stop by and take part.
Bird lovers can begin their morning on Aug. 9 with Summer Birding from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Bronx birder Haley Scott of the Feminist Bird Club will lead a walk through the gardens and woodlands, helping participants spot summer birds while learning about the plants, insects, and habitats that attract wildlife to Wave Hill.
Later that afternoon, visitors can join a Garden Highlights Walk from 1 to 1:30 p.m. Guided by a Wave Hill Garden Guide, the leisurely walk introduces seasonal highlights throughout the gardens. Each tour is slightly different, depending on the guide and the time of year.

Art lovers can also take a closer look at the exhibitions inside Glyndor Gallery during Public Gallery Tours on Aug. 6 and Aug. 8 from 2 to 3 p.m. The guided tours offer visitors an opportunity to learn more about the artwork on display and the connections between nature, culture, and the garden setting.
Families with children can head to Wave Hill on Aug. 8 and 9 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. for the Family Art Project: Monet's Magnificent Pond. Inspired by Claude Monet's famous water lily paintings and Wave Hill's own Aquatic Garden, participants will create mixed-media artwork to take home.
Wave Hill is located at 4900 Independence Ave. in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. Admission is required to enter the grounds, but each of these featured programs is included with admission. Visitors can participate on a first-come, first-served basis since registration is not required.
The early August schedule gives Bronx residents and visitors several ways to spend time at Wave Hill, from guided birding and gallery tours to hands-on family art.
