What to Know
  • Ginuwine and Ro James will perform at Lehman Center.
  • The R&B concert is set for Nov. 7 at 8 pm.

R&B fans in the Bronx will have a chance to hear two generations of the genre when Ginuwine and Ro James perform at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, November 7, at 8 p.m. Both Grammy-nominated singers are scheduled to make their debut appearances at the Bedford Park venue.

For Ginuwine, the concert marks another stop in a career closely tied to the R&B sound of the late 1990s and early 2000s. His recordings include 'Pony, So Anxious, and Differences,' songs that helped establish him during a period when R&B was a regular presence on mainstream radio.

Born Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, Ginuwine began performing as a teenager in Maryland before entering the music industry through Swing Mob, where he met producer Timbaland.

Their work together helped launch his debut album, Ginuwine… The Bachelor, in 1996. The album introduced 'Pony,' which reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and later appeared in the film Magic Mike.

His follow-up album, '100% Ginuwine,' arrived in 1999 and included So 'Anxious.' He continued recording through the following decade, releasing albums including 'The Life and The Senior.'

Joining him is Ro James, whose music draws from classic soul and contemporary R&B. James gained attention with his independently released 'Coke, Jack, and Cadillacs' EP series before releasing Permission in 2015. The song reached No. 1 on Billboard's Adult R&B Airplay chart and earned him a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Performance.

His debut studio album, 'Eldorado,' followed in 2016. He later released 'Mantic' in 2020, featuring collaborations with Miguel and Brandy. His more recent work includes the single '5th Gear.'

The pairing offers Bronx audiences a chance to hear two artists whose music continues to contribute to R&B's lasting legacy and influence across generations.

Lehman Center is located on the Lehman College campus at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West. The venue has presented music, theater, and cultural performances in the Bronx since 1980.
