What to Know
New student mural to be unveiled Oct. 29 at Lehman Center.
The project is supported by the Sara Little Turnbull Foundation.
From prehistoric cave paintings to the colorful walls of the Bronx, murals have told stories for thousands of years. On Thursday, October 29, Lehman College students will add their work to that tradition when a new mural is unveiled at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts.
The mural will be presented at 6 p.m. in the center's main lobby at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West. Created through a collaborative project in Lehman College's Art Department, the artwork celebrates music, theater, and film.
During the spring 2026 semester, Lehman College professors and alumni Eric Ramirez (Design) and Ruth Rodriguez (Printmaking) guided students through the project.
Students explored printmaking, typography, and digital design while developing proposals for the lobby wall. The completed mural features colorful figures, piano keys, a saxophone, film reels, and theater lighting, reflecting the performances presented at Lehman Center.
The unveiling follows another student mural project at Lehman College earlier this year. In April, the college highlighted three student artists who collaborated on Academic Tags, a large-scale painting created for the 2026 Lehman Lecture featuring The Kid Mero.

The mural received support from the Sara Little Turnbull Foundation, which has partnered with Lehman College since 2019 to expand design education through scholarships, fellowships and visiting designer programs.
The foundation honors Sara Little Turnbull, an influential American industrial designer whose work helped shape everyday consumer products. Established as a trust in 2015 and launched in 2018, the foundation supports underrepresented young people pursuing design education and women working in design.
The partnership has provided opportunities for Lehman students to develop their skills and participate in projects beyond the classroom. The new mural adds to that work while becoming part of a performing arts center that has served Bronx audiences since 1980.
The Lehman mural adds to the Bronx's mural culture, which includes TATS Cru's famous 'I Love The Bronx' mural near Simpson Street and Westchester Avenue. More recently, Dominican artist Angurria has been completing a towering mural at Morrisania Houses in the South Bronx, celebrating Dominican culture, diversity, and neighborhood life.
The unveiling at Lehman Center will be followed by a Halloween-themed reception with refreshments.
