Yosemite National Park, nestled in California's Sierra Nevada mountains, is known for its dramatic granite cliffs, thundering waterfalls, and ancient giant sequoias. But in this limited series, that breathtaking wilderness becomes the setting for a much grittier story.
Untamed, a six-episode mystery thriller starring Eric Bana, premieres Thursday, July 17, on Netflix. The series follows a federal investigator as he works to solve a brutal death that unearths secrets buried both in the park and in his past.
Kyle Turner (Bana) is part of the National Park Service's Investigative Services Branch, a little-known unit responsible for solving crimes on protected federal lands. Turner's investigation becomes personal as clues link back to his own history, threatening to unravel the life he thought he left behind. Joining Bana is Sam Neill as Paul Souter, the longtime Yosemite chief ranger and Turner’s trusted friend.

The cast also includes Lily Santiago as Naya Vasquez, a former Los Angeles cop and single mother new to park life. Rosemary DeWitt plays Turner's ex-wife, Jill, and Wilson Bethel rounds out the team as Shane Maguire, a reclusive Wildlife Management Officer who follows his own code of survival.
The show was created by Mark L. Smith, best known for co-writing The Revenant, and Elle Smith (The Marsh King's Daughter). Both serve as showrunners, with Bana also serving as executive producer alongside a team that includes John Wells (ER, Shameless) and Todd Black (The Equalizer).
Netflix describes the series as character-driven. With Smith's writing skills and Bana’s strong presence, viewers can expect a story rooted in quiet suspense and personal drama. The mix of unpredictable nature and a killer on the loose sets the stage for an intense wilderness thriller.
