Classic animation is getting a steady home on cable. Turner Classic Movies has become the ongoing television home of the Looney Tunes animated shorts, adding the library to its regular programming lineup beginning in February.
The launch starts with a week-long tribute featuring 45 classic cartoons as part of TCM’s Star of the Month spotlight on Bugs Bunny. The shorts will air on TCM, with select titles presented as TCM Premieres, and will continue to appear across the network’s schedule beyond the launch.
According to the series description, the February programming marks the first time Bugs Bunny has been named TCM’s Star of the Month. The tribute centers on a curated selection of 45 cartoons that reflect the character’s long history in theatrical animation and his influence on filmmakers and animators.

TCM said the Looney Tunes shorts will remain part of the channel’s ongoing lineup after February, establishing the network as a consistent destination for classic animation. Select shorts will debut as TCM Premieres, signaling the formal arrival of the library on the channel.
“TCM is excited to become the ongoing television home of the Looney Tunes library,” said Charlie Tabesh, senior vice president of programming and content strategy at Turner Classic Movies. He added that the network plans to present the cartoons with care, placing them alongside the classic films they helped influence.
The Looney Tunes library includes a wide range of well-known characters, including Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, and Wile E. Coyote. The collection is widely regarded as one of the most influential bodies of work in animation history, with many shorts originally created for theatrical release.
TCM’s February schedule will also include a selection of feature films chosen to complement the animated shorts. The network said this approach provides broader film history context while continuing its focus on preservation and presentation of classic cinema.
