The Bronx native will be honored on October 2 for her work in TV, film, and theater.
Bronx native Judy Reyes will receive the Trailblazer Award at the sixth annual Critics Choice Celebración of Cinema & Television on October 2, 2026, in Beverly Hills. The award will recognize her career across television, film, and theater. The event’s time and exact location have not been announced.
The honor comes as Reyes stars in two ABC and Hulu shows. She plays Lt. Selena Soto on “High Potential” and has returned as nurse Carla Espinosa in the revival of “Scrubs.” Reyes first played Carla for nine seasons.

Reyes was born in the Bronx and began acting while studying at Hunter College. She later became one of the founding members of New York’s LAByrinth Theater Company.
Her career includes several memorable television roles. She played Zoila Diaz in “Devious Maids” and Quiet Ann in “Claws.” Her film work includes “Birth/Rebirth” and the Bronx drama “Gun Hill Road.”
On “High Potential,” Reyes plays the lieutenant in charge of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Major Crimes Division. Selena is the officer who gives Morgan Gillory, played by Kaitlin Olson, a chance to work with the team as a consultant.

The Critics Choice Association created the Celebración to recognize Latino and Hispanic artists working in front of and behind the camera.
“To honor this remarkable class of Latino and Hispanic artists is nothing short of a gift,” co-programmer Clayton Davis said.
Reyes will be honored alongside John Leguizamo, who will receive the Career Achievement Award, and The Paper's actor Oscar Nuñez, who will receive the Vanguard Award. Davis and Amanda Salas will host the event.
