Department Q: A Crime Drama From Scott Frank and Left Bank Pictures For Netflix: Meet The Cast

Matthew Goode as DCI Carl Morck and Chloe Pirrie as Merritt Lingard in the Netflix crime-drama Department Q

Queen’s Gambit and Monsieur Spade creator, Scott Frank has a new star-studded series coming to Netflix. Department Q is an adaptation of the novels of the same name by Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen. Netflix announced the series is presently being filmed and has released cast names for the upcoming crime series.

While consumed by guilt following an attack that left his partner paralyzed and another policeman dead, Edinburgh's former top-rated detective returns to work after a hiatus and is assigned the task of setting up a new division that focuses on solving cold cases.

Alexej Manvelov as Akram Salim, Kelly Macdonald as Dr. Rachel Irving, and Leah Byrne as Rose in the Netflix crime-drama Department Q

The series is written by Scott Frank, Chandni Lakhani, Stephen Greenhorn, and Colette Kane. Initially, Department Q is nothing more than a public relations exercise, and Carl is content with being on the sidelines, passing time by playing solitaire, and avoiding work. Yet over the course of the series, Carl’s detective instincts are reawakened, and his new department down in the basement becomes an unlikely magnet for the misfits and mavericks of Chief Super Moira’s police team.

Department Q stars Matthew Goode (The King’s Man) as DCI Carl Morck, Chloe Pirrie (Under The Banner of Heaven) as Merritt Lingard, a driven prosecutor with a troubled past, Alexej Manvelov (Jack Ryan) as Akram Salim, a former Syrian police officer with hidden talents turned assistant to Carl, Kelly Macdonald (Line of Duty) as Dr. Rachel Irving, a perceptive therapist tasked with helping officers return to duty, and Leah Byrne (Call The Midwife) as Rose, a former top police cadet grappling with mental health challenges that derailed her career. Rose now seeks redemption and a fresh start in the newly formed Department Q.

Mark Bonnar as Stephen, Shirley Henderson as Clare Marsh, Jamie Sives as DS Hardy, and Kate Dickie as Moira in the Netflix crime-drama Department Q

The cast also includes Mark Bonnar (Napoleon) as Stephen, Shirley Henderson (Bridget Jones) as Clare Marsh, Jamie Sives (Guilt, Crime) as DS Hardy, and Kate Dickie (Inside Man, The Witch) as Moira. Department Q is a Left Bank Pictures production, with the first two episodes directed by Scott Frank, and is executive produced by Rob Bullock, Scott Frank, Chandni Lakhani, and Andy Harries.

No dates announced at this time.
