Jennifer Garner returns as Hannah Hall as the mystery continues

Apple TV has released the trailer for season two of The Last Thing He Told Me, confirming the series will return on Friday, February 20, 2026, with new episodes streaming weekly on Apple TV.

The eight-episode season stars Jennifer Garner, who also serves as an executive producer, and continues the story based on Laura Dave’s bestselling novel The First Time I Saw Him. The premiere will debut globally with one episode, followed by weekly releases every Friday through April 10.

Season two picks up five years after the events of the first season, with Owen Michaels, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, unexpectedly reappearing after years on the run. Hannah Hall, portrayed by Jennifer Garner, and her stepdaughter Bailey, played by Angourie Rice, are pulled into a tense effort to reunite their family before unresolved secrets resurface.

Returning cast members include David Morse, while season two adds Judy Greer and Rita Wilson to the ensemble. Additional appearances this season come from Augusto Aguilera, Josh Hamilton, Nick Hargrove, Michael Galante, John Noble, Michael Hyatt, Luke Kirby, and Elizabeth O’Donnell.

The series is based on Laura Dave’s novel The First Time I Saw Him, a follow-up to her earlier bestseller The Last Thing He Told Me. The original book was a Reese’s Book Club pick and became a long-running New York Times bestseller, helping set the stage for the show’s strong launch on Apple TV. For viewers who want to revisit the story, season one is currently available to stream ahead of the new premiere.
