Karin Slaughter is not simply handing another one of her crime novels over to television. For Peacock’s The Good Daughter, the author wrote all six episodes and serves as showrunner, keeping the story of sisters Charlotte and Samantha Quinn close as it moves from the page to the screen.

Meghann Fahy plays Charlotte, known as Charlie, while Rose Byrne plays Samantha, or Sam. The sisters have spent 20 years trying to rebuild their lives after a violent night fractured their family. When another attack hits their small town of Pikeville, Charlie, now a lawyer like her father, becomes the first witness at the scene.

The new investigation begins pulling the sisters back toward painful memories and buried family secrets. For Slaughter, however, the relationship between Charlie and Sam is just as important as the mystery surrounding them.

“The Good Daughter is a story of love, family, and the unbreakable bond between two resilient, funny, difficult sisters. It’s thrilling to watch Charlie and Sam brought to life by two extraordinarily talented women. Rose and Meghann perfectly captured the sister relationship - all the history, heartache and joy - wrapped inside this puzzle of a mystery,” Slaughter said in a statement.

The Good Daughter continues Slaughter’s growing connection to television adaptations of her crime fiction.

Netflix released Pieces of Her, based on Slaughter’s novel, as an eight-episode limited series in 2022. The Toni Collette-led drama climbed to No. 1 on Netflix’s English-language television chart during its second week and was the service’s most-watched title worldwide that week.

Slaughter also created the novel series behind ABC’s Will Trent. The television drama follows Georgia Bureau of Investigation special agent Will Trent and has completed four seasons. ABC has confirmed the series will return for a fifth season in 2027.

The Good Daughter adds Brendan Gleeson as Charlie and Sam’s father, Rusty. The series regular cast also includes Olivia Williams, Harper Steele, Michael Dorman, Audrey Grace Marshall and Drew Cheek.

Steph Green, whose television credits include Watchmen and The Americans, directed all six episodes and serves as an executive producer. Rose Byrne also executive produces alongside Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Casey Haver for Made Up Stories.

Peacock has also released the trailer for the crime drama, offering a first look at Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy as Sam and Charlie Quinn. The series filmed in Atlanta from March through June 2025, according to IMDb production records.

All six episodes of The Good Daughter premiere Nov. 12 on Peacock.
