A new mind-bending intelligence story joins the streaming lineup with a strong cast and a low-key debut

An exclusive image from the espionage thriller series The Copenhagen Test features actors Simu Liu as intelligence analyst Alexander Hale and Melissa Barrera as Michelle. The two characters stand back-to-back, looking in opposite directions with tense expressions in what appears to be a dimly lit library or archive room, indicated by the brick walls, wooden bookshelves labeled "LINGUISTICS," "MILITARY GEOGRAPHY," and "U.S. HISTORY," and the small knife Melissa Barrera's character is holding. The series, which follows Alexander Hale's journey after his brain is hacked, will debut on Peacock on December 27, 2025.

Peacock is rolling out a new science fiction spy thriller called The Copenhagen Test, and it’s arriving with a surprisingly quiet lead-up. The series premieres Saturday, Dec 27, on Peacock and centers on an intelligence analyst who discovers his brain has been hacked. Simu Liu stars as Alexander Hale, a man caught between his agency and the hackers watching everything he sees and hears.

The story follows Hale as he learns that the people who compromised him now have access to his senses in real time. With both sides pressuring him and no clear line between allies and enemies, he’s forced to keep up a performance every minute of the day while he searches for who is responsible. Created by Thomas Brandon, the show mixes espionage, tech paranoia, and a personal unraveling that plays out under constant surveillance.

Fans of Warehouse 13 may spot Saul Rubinek in the teaser. He plays Victor Simonek, and from the quick glimpse in the trailer, it looks like Alexander Hale may turn to him for guidance. Even if it’s just a short appearance, it’s the kind of grounded character moment Rubinek always makes memorable.

As for the cast, Liu is joined by Melissa Barrera, Sinclair Daniel, Brian D’Arcy James, Mark O’Brien, and Kathleen Chalfant. Each plays a figure in Hale’s orbit, from coworkers to shadowy officials, shaping the web of trust and suspicion around him.

The series, which follows Alexander Hale after his brain is hacked, will premiere on Peacock on December 27, 2025.

The Copenhagen Test arrives during a busy winter streaming season, but its mix of science fiction and spy drama may appeal to viewers looking for something a bit different. With a strong cast and a premise built on constant tension, the series could easily gain attention once word gets around.
