Peacock Teases Thriller With 'Apples Never Fall' Based On Liane Moriarty’s Bestseller
Annette Bening's captivating narration in this brief trailer release is a great draw into the life of the Delaney family, who are revered fixtures in their community. This glimpse already had me on the edge of my seat, looking for the first crack of imperfection in their perfect lives. The miniseries is based on Liane Moriarty’s New York Times Bestselling novel, which has sold over a million copies worldwide.
Sam Neill and Annette Bening star opposite each other in Peacock’s upcoming drama Apples Never Fall. Moriarty is also the author of Big Little Lies and Nine Perfect Strangers. The premiere is set for March 14, 2024, and will stream exclusively on Peacock.
"It was thrilling to write about the truly grown-up issues the Delaneys are grappling with, like the sometimes brutal sacrifices parents make to keep a marriage and family together. We also take the gloves off when capturing what it takes to be a working mother and wife as we follow Joy into the mystery at the heart of this show," said Showrunner and Executive Producer Melanie Marnich.
Directed by Chris Sweeney (The Tourist) and Dawn Shadforth (I Hate Suzie), Apples Never Fall centers on the seemingly picture-perfect Delaney family. Former tennis coaches Stan and Joy have sold their successful tennis academy and are ready to start what should be the golden years of their lives.
While they look forward to spending time with their four adult children, everything changes when a wounded young woman knocks on Joy and Stan's door, bringing the excitement they've been missing. But when Joy suddenly disappears, her children are forced to re-examine their parents' so-called perfect marriage as their family’s darkest secrets begin to surface.
The mystery drama stars Annette Bening (Nyad, American Beauty) as Joy Delaney, Sam Neill (Peaky Blinders, Jurassic Park) as Stan Delaney, Alison Brie (Glow, Community) as Amy Delaney, Jake Lacy (The White Lotus, The Office) as Troy Delaney, Conor Merrigan-Turner (Thai Cave Rescue) as Logan Delaney, and Essie Randles (Speedway) as Brooke Delaney.
Also attached as series regulars are Georgia Flood (Wentworth) as Savannah, Jeanine Serralles (Utopia) as Detective Elena Camacho, and Dylan Thuraisingham (Head High) as Detective Ethan Remy. Series guest stars include Katrina Lenk (Ozark) as Lucia Fortino, Timm Sharp (Based On A True Story) as Monty Fortino, Nate Mann (Ray Donovan) as Simon Barrington, Paula Andrea Placido (Their Story: The In-Between) as Gina Solis, Pooja Shah (The L word Generation Q) as Indira Chaundry, and Quentin Plair (Roswell, New Mexico) as Tyler Cruz.
David Heyman (Wonka, Barbie), who also serves as Executive Producer, said, "Apples Never Fall is Liane Moriarty at her very best, and I am immensely grateful and proud that she has given me the opportunity to bring it to the screen." Heyman will executive produce, alongside Liane Moriarty, Albert Page, and Jillian Share.
