My Lady Jane: Alternate Tudor Fantasy, Get A First Look At Prime Video's New Rom-Com Series

The story of Lady Jane Grey, who claimed the throne of England only to be executed after nine days, is coming to Prime Video. Based on the 2016 historical fantasy novel by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows, My Lady Jane offers a humorous and imaginative retelling of Jane’s life, depicting a world where she avoids execution and navigates a political landscape filled with nefarious villains and intrigue.

Prime Video has released first-look images (seen in this article) of this witty series set in an alternate Tudor fantasy world, with all eight episodes premiering exclusively on June 27, 2024.

Logline: Gird your loins for the tragic tale of Lady Jane Grey, the young Tudor noblewoman who was Queen of England for nine days and then beheaded in 1553... F*ck that. We’re retelling history the way it should have happened: the damsel in distress saves herself. This is an epic tale of true love and high adventure set in an alt-universe of action, history, fantasy, comedy, romance, and rompy-pompy. Buckle up.

The cast of My Lady Jane is led by newcomer Emily Bader as Jane Grey, with Edward Bluemel (Killing Eve) starring opposite her as Guildford Dudley, and Jordan Peters (Pirates) as King Edward. Dominic Cooper (Preacher) plays Lord Seymour, Anna Chancellor (Pennyworth) portrays Jane’s mother, Lady Frances Grey, and Rob Brydon (The Trip) appears as Lord Dudley, Guildford’s father.

Jim Broadbent (The Duke) takes on the role of the Duke of Leicester, Jane’s uncle. Henry Ashton (Creation Stories) plays Guildford’s brother, Stan, while Isabella Brownson (Napoleon) and Robyn Betteridge (Wheel of Time) play Jane’s sisters.

Kate O’Flynn (Landscapers) and Abbie Hern (Enola Holmes 2) depict Princess Mary and Princess Bess, the King’s sisters. Additional cast members include Máiréad Tyers (Extraordinary), Joe Klocek (The Dry), and Michael Workeye (This is Going to Hurt).

The series is created by Gemma Burgess (Brooklyn Girls trilogy) and co-showrun by Burgess and Meredith Glynn (The Boys). Jamie Babbit (Only Murders in the Building) directs five of the eight episodes and serves as producing director. Executive producers include Sarah Bradshaw (Citadel), Laurie MacDonald (The Ring), and Jamie Babbit.
