Two Colombian salsa orchestras make their Lehman Center debuts Sept. 26.
A portion of ticket sales will support Colombia’s earthquake relief efforts.
The Bronx is getting a double introduction to two of Medellín’s longtime salsa orchestras. Grupo Galé and La Sonora Carruseles will make their Lehman Center debuts Saturday, Sept. 26, at 8 p.m., placing Colombian salsa at the center of the venue’s Hispanic Heritage Month programming.
The two groups will perform songs including “Micaela,” “Arranca en Fa,” “La Comay” and “Perdóname.” Their shared program will move through salsa dura, boogaloo, and other Latin dance music shaped by Colombia’s musical history.
Grupo Galé was founded in Medellín, Colombia, in 1989 by composer, percussionist, and director Diego Galé. The nine-member orchestra includes singers Diego Javier Gonzales, Carlos Llamosa, and Charly Towers.
The group has performed for more than three decades and developed an audience beyond Colombia, including a following in Europe. Its most recent album, “Sentimientos,” was released in 2025.

La Sonora Carruseles was formed in Medellín in 1995. The orchestra draws from the sound and energy of salsa’s earlier years while adding its own style. Its singers include Arnold Moreno, Igor Moreno, and Johan Molina. Manolo Puerto heads the group, with Morist Jiménez Jr. serving as musical director.
Their Bronx appearance comes during Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 and recognizes the histories and cultures of Americans with roots in Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America and South America.
The concert also has a relief component. Lehman Center said a portion of all ticket sales will support Colombian earthquake relief efforts as the country continues recovering from the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that struck western Colombia on Aug. 10.
The performance will take place at Lehman Center for the Performing Arts, located at 250 Bedford Park Blvd. West on the Lehman College campus.
