A decades-long friendship unravels when a crime forces buried secrets into the open in Imperfect Women, a new limited series premiering globally on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, March 18. The eight-episode psychological thriller stars Emmy Award winners Kerry Washington (Scandal) and Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), alongside Kate Mara (House of Cards).

The series was created for television by Annie Weisman, who also serves as showrunner. The first two episodes debut March 18, with new episodes arriving weekly through April 29.

Based on the novel by Araminta Hall, the story centers on three close friends whose lives fracture after a murder investigation begins pulling their past into the spotlight. As authorities search for answers, long-held truths begin to surface, revealing how even the strongest friendships can hide complicated histories.

Washington described the series as the kind of show viewers may find themselves discussing long after each episode ends. “I think the show's so special because it’s definitely your next water cooler. Like big moment, everybody's talking about a show,” Washington said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. “I think—I hope it's about friendship. It's about kind of what you do when the worst possible thing happens in a friendship and what you discover about each other as the relationships unravel."

The cast features a wide ensemble that includes Joel Kinnaman (For All Mankind), Corey Stoll (Billions), and Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton). Additional cast members include Audrey Zahn, Jill Wagner, Rome Flynn, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Violette Linnz, Indiana Elle, Jackson Kelly, Keith Carradine, Ana Ortiz, Wilson Bethel and Sherri Saum.

Behind the camera, the project brings together a strong group of producers and creatives. Moss and Lindsey McManus executive produce through Love & Squalor Pictures, while Washington produces under her Simpson Street banner alongside Pilar Savone. Author Hall also serves as an executive producer along with writer Kay Oyegun. Director Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland) helms several key episodes of the series.

Produced by 20th Television and Apple Studios, Imperfect Women arrives as a character-driven mystery built around relationships, loyalty, and the difficult choices that shape lives.
