Roku is expanding its original entertainment lineup with Live from Roku City, a new interactive experience that transforms the platform’s familiar animated backdrop into a stage for music and storytelling.
The first performance, featuring Grammy-nominated artist Demi Lovato, is available to stream now on The Roku Channel. Viewers can explore Roku City, click into its skyline, and unlock an exclusive stage where Lovato performs her new single “Here All Night” and a cover of Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.”
The project marks Roku’s first use of its signature cityscape as a content hub. With Roku City appearing in more than 90 million households, the platform’s move into immersive, interactive programming could redefine how audiences engage with their favorite artists and shows. The initiative also adds a new layer to the company’s push toward original storytelling and brand-driven entertainment.
Charlie Collier, President of Roku Media, called the launch a major step in expanding how audiences experience content on the platform. “With ‘Live from Roku City,’ we’re doubling down on so much of what makes our platform special,” Collier said. “Demi Lovato is an artist who has thrived on authenticity and a steadfast dedication to her fans, and we’re showcasing both in the first of many creative ways artists can shine at scale on our platform.”
Lovato shared her excitement to debut new music through the project. “I’m beyond excited to partner with Roku again to give the first taste of a live performance from my new music era,” Lovato said. “‘It’s Not That Deep’ represents an electric energy I’m feeling about life right now, and I can’t wait to share that with everyone, Live from Roku City.”
Produced by Good World Creative and London Alley, and directed by award-winning filmmaker Hannah Lux Davis, the premiere episode sets the tone for what’s expected to be a recurring series of immersive, artist-led moments on Roku. Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Roku Originals, oversaw the project for the platform.
With Lovato's energy lighting up the digital skyline, Roku City isn’t just a screensaver anymore; it’s the platform’s newest stage.
