Netflix is expanding its adult animation lineup with Dealies, a new workplace comedy from creators Joe Bennett and Ted Travelstead. The streaming service announced the series on June 3, with Green Street Pictures serving as the studio behind the project.
The series takes place inside Dealies, a big-box retail store staffed by an unusual group of employees. According to the official logline, the workplace includes "a savant salesman, a gentle gladiator, a quiet virtuoso, a summoner of the divine, and the poor soul who hired them." While they are described as masters of commerce and "prophets of enterprise," they occasionally find time to do their actual jobs.
Bennett is best known as the co-creator of the acclaimed animated series Common Side Effects and the science fiction drama Scavengers Reign. He and Travelstead will serve as showrunners, writers, and executive producers on Dealies. Executive producers also include Lisa Mierke, Alex Plapinger, James Merrill, Sean Buckelew, and Benjy Brooke for Green Street Pictures.
The announcement arrives during a busy period for adult animation on Netflix, which continues to add original animated comedies and dramas to its growing catalog. While Netflix has not announced a premiere date, voice cast, or episode count for Dealies, the creative team behind the project gives the series a strong connection to some of the most talked-about adult animated productions of recent years.
For now, Dealies remains in early development, but the premise suggests a workplace comedy where retail life collides with larger-than-life personalities, all under the fluorescent lights of a familiar big-box store.
