A celebration of African and Caribbean culture is coming to Roberto Clemente Plaza later this month, bringing live music, community activities, and local vendors to one of the South Bronx's busiest public gathering spaces.
The African & Caribbean Cultural Festival will take place on Saturday, June 27, at Roberto Clemente Plaza in The Hub as part of the Roberto Clemente Plaza Pop-Up Concert Series Summer 2026.
The free event runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will feature a live performance by Garifuna musician Gogo Norales, along with refreshments, children's activities, local vendors, and a community book exchange presented in partnership with Community Board 1.
According to event organizers, the festival is the first annual Hub African & Caribbean Festival and is one of four community-focused concerts taking place at the plaza during May and June.
Norales, a Bronx-born artist, performs Garifuna world and folkloric music rooted in the traditions of the Garifuna people, an Afro-Indigenous culture whose history traces back to the Caribbean island of Saint Vincent and communities throughout Central America.
He is known for blending traditional Garifuna sounds, including paranda and punta influences, with contemporary music styles while promoting awareness of Garifuna heritage and culture.

The festival will be held at Roberto Clemente Plaza, located at 530 Willis Ave. at the crossroads of Willis Avenue, East 149th Street, and Third Avenue. Opened in 2018, the plaza serves as a central gathering space in The Hub and hosts community events, performances, and public programming throughout the year.
Admission to the African & Caribbean Cultural Festival is free and open to the public.
