28 Years Later: The Bone Temple will open in movie theaters on January 16, 2026, bringing a new chapter to the world created by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland.

Directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Garland, the film follows Dr. Kelson and Spike as they face dangers that now come from survivors rather than the infected. The movie continues the franchise’s story with a focus on how people adapt, break, and survive in a world reshaped by fear.

The official synopsis introduces two central storylines. Dr. Kelson, played by Ralph Fiennes, enters a surprising new relationship that carries consequences that could shift the fragile world around him.

At the same time, Spike, played by Alfie Williams, encounters Jimmy Crystal, played by Jack O’Connell, and the encounter turns into a nightmare he cannot escape. These threads point to a story where human choices and pressure drive the tension forward.

The cast also includes Erin Kellyman and Chi Lewis-Parry. Behind the scenes, the film brings back several names tied to the original series. It is produced by Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, Bernard Bellew, Danny Boyle, and Alex Garland, with Cillian Murphy serving as executive producer.
