What’s in the Box? arrives on Netflix on December 17, a new game show hosted by Neil Patrick Harris. All six episodes will be available that day, each running about 45 minutes. The series follows pairs of contestants as they face off to guess what prizes or surprises are hidden inside giant sealed boxes, mixing trivia with strategy in a format built for quick decisions and high pressure.

It leans into a playful tone that fits Harris well. Contestants move through quick trivia rounds to earn clues, then choose which boxes to open. Some hide cash or luxury items, while others contain twists that can erase everything they earned. The setup stays simple, but the shifting choices give each round its hook. It plays like a guessing game where one decision can flip the outcome.

The press release describes shifting alliances and changing dynamics as part of the fun. That suggests the series is designed for binge watching, especially with every episode dropping at once. Rollercoaster Television, a division of ITV Studios, produced the show.

The company is behind several UK formats, so this marks another international game show heading to Netflix’s catalog. Harris steps in as host, bringing the same mix of humor and precision that he is known for in live entertainment.

Netflix has continued experimenting with game shows over the past few years, and this one fits neatly into that lineup. The rules are easy to follow, the boxes add an instant visual cue, and the pace looks designed to keep episodes moving without feeling crowded. For viewers who enjoy guessing along, this format gives plenty of chances to play at home.

Whether audiences gravitate to the surprises, the trivia, or the pressure of choosing the right box, the premise offers enough moving pieces to make each episode its own puzzle. With the entire series landing in one drop, it will be interesting to see which strategies pay off and which ones fall apart.
