Winning the lottery is usually a low-risk, life-changing reward that leads to a better, stress-free life full of satisfaction. At least, that's what it is now.
However, Prime Video's new film Jackpot, starring and executive produced by John Cena, paints an alternate reality where winning the lottery means life or death in this action-comedy premiering on Thursday, August 15, 2024.
In the near future, California introduces the 'Grand Lottery'—with a deadly twist: kill the winner before sundown to legally claim their multi-billion dollar jackpot. When Katie Kim moves to Los Angeles, she inadvertently finds herself holding the winning ticket.
Desperate to survive the onslaught of jackpot hunters, she teams up with amateur lottery protection agent Noel Cassidy, who is determined to protect her until sundown in exchange for a share of the prize. However, they must contend with Noel’s cunning rival, Louis Lewis, who is also determined to claim Katie’s fortune at any cost.
