Hub isn't your run-of-the-mill bounty hunter. Mostly because it's more about what he's chasing than who, and the reason behind it all makes this tale even more entertaining.

In The Bondsman, Kevin Bacon plays the grim and gritty Halloran, a bail bondsman resurrected by the devil and forced to hunt down demons that have escaped Hell. He's an unwilling participant in a deadly game, paying off a life debt for killing an innocent woman. A mix of grizzled cynicism and uneasy redemption, Halloran is shaped by a past he can't outrun, but remains a devoted family man caught between damnation and duty.
Halloran is the kind of man who still checks in on his son and ex-wife, listens when his mother scolds him, and despite everything, wants to make things right. He doesn't always say or do the right thing, but when it hits the fan, his clean-up game is on point. Stubborn and sharp, he has a knack for tracking down trouble, whether it walks on two legs or crawls out of Hell. Just like Buffy, the Winchester brothers, Ash, or Angel, Hub's past isn't perfect—and neither are his kills—but somehow, he gets the job done.

The Team

(L to R): Jennifer Nettles as Maryanne Dice, Beth Grant as Kitty Halloran, Maxwell Jenkins as Cade Halloran, Jolene Purdy as Midge Kusatsu: Courtesy of Tina Rowden/Prime
The series also stars Jennifer Nettles as Maryanne Dice, Hub's estranged wife, a sharp-witted singer with an uncanny ability to read people. She's torn between helping her ex-husband and keeping her distance, often providing critical intel while occasionally getting pulled into his hunts.
Beth Grant plays Kitty Halloran, better known as Momma Bear. She's sharp, resourceful, and knows the ins and outs of tracking fugitives—demonic or otherwise. Armed with a shotgun and biting wisdom, Kitty serves as both Hub's moral compass and his fiercest critic.
Maxwell Jenkins portrays Cade Halloran, Hub's teenage son. Caught between the supernatural chaos of his father's world and his own coming-of-age, Cade wastes no time jumping into the action once he learns the truth.
Then there's Midge Kusatsu, played by Jolene Purdy, Hub's handler and reluctant connection to his demonic employer. After making a deal to save her son's life, Midge begins working for Pot O'Gold Corporation, Hell's earthly business front. As Hub's case manager, she walks a fine line between bureaucratic control and genuine concern, trying to decide if she should bend the rules to help Hub.

The Human Problem

Outside the supernatural chaos, Hub has a very human nemesis—Lucky Callahan, a local bar owner and former Boston mobster. Played by Damon Herriman, Lucky complicates everything: he's dating Maryanne and, more importantly, he's the one who had Hub killed, setting off the chain of events in The Bondsman. That said, to be fair, Hub did try to kill Lucky first.
Then there's Sheriff Ruby, played by Denitra Isler. After Hub kills a deputy, Ruby becomes his most relentless threat on the human side of the law. She's sharp, methodical, and no-nonsense—completely grounded in reality and immune to superstition. Ruby doesn't believe in the supernatural, but she knows something is off about Halloran. She's not just after a criminal—she's chasing a mystery. Practical and intense, she's the kind of law enforcement presence that makes even the innocent feel uneasy.
