The mural features a large cartoon character to the right and text in the center that reads: "They say its Trash & Easy ART. These are the People Who Condemn What is Not Comprehensible to them. In Reality, Graffiti is a state of MIND. EveryoneS MIND IS NOT capable of understanding our way of Expression! Graffiti is our Way OUT!!!".

A guided tour invites Bronx residents and visitors to explore the murals, artists, and community history behind the Boone Avenue Walls movement.

Boone Avenue Walls will host a new 90-minute street art walking tour in Mott Haven on Saturday, December 13, and Sunday, December 14 at 11:00 a.m., beginning at 514 East 134th Street and Brook Avenue. The tour, presented in partnership with the Bronx County Historical Society, will introduce visitors to the artists, neighborhood history, and community values that shaped this graffiti-driven movement. Organizers say the goal is to share how Bronx street art grew from a local tradition into a global conversation.

Led by guides familiar with the neighborhood, the walk begins with the story of how Boone Avenue Walls was founded by Bronx graffiti artist WEN COD. The project started as a small local effort and has grown into a foundation with an annual festival that brings muralists from the borough and beyond. The organization’s work focuses on using art, education, and community pride to strengthen neighborhoods.

Throughout the tour, visitors move past walls filled with color, character, and the kind of personal expression that shaped Bronx graffiti from the start. Participants learn how the movement links The Bronx to street art scenes around the world.

Guides point out murals in Mott Haven, explaining the artists’ styles, their techniques, and the ideas they wanted to share with the community. They also discuss the area’s long connection to hip hop and graffiti culture, which shaped the mission to support mentorship, environmental awareness, and community engagement.

The walk ends on Alexander Avenue, a block known for its small businesses and creative shops that highlight Bronx pride. Visitors can explore the area, talk with guides and neighbors, and take in more of the local culture at their own pace.

Boone Avenue Walls describes its work as a long-term effort to connect communities, inspire civic pride, and support the next generation of creators. The new tour reflects that mission by offering a closer look at how public art has shaped local identity over the last decade and how The Bronx continues to influence artists far beyond the borough.
