Loosely based on the novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie by screenwriter and author Juliet McDaniel, Palm Royale is a period comedy set in 1969 Palm Beach high society.
It's an underdog story that follows Maxine Simmons, a woman determined to assimilate into the wealthy class. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, Palm Royale will ask the question that still baffles us today: How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has? It's a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong.
Palm Royale stars Emmy and Academy Award nominee Kristen Wiig, who many will remember from Bridesmaids and Saturday Night Live. Wiig will play Maxine Simmons alongside Oscar winner Allison Janney (The West Wing, I Tonya) as Evelyn, Oscar winner Laura Dern (Jurassic Park, Marriage Story) as Linda, and from the rom-com film Sweet Home Alabama, Josh Lucas as Douglas.
The series also stars Grammy winner Ricky Martin (General Hospital, American Crime Story), Leslie Bibb (Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby) as Dinah, Amber Chardae Robinson (Judas and the Black Messiah) as Virginia, TV icon Mindy Cohn (Facts Of Life) as Ann, TV icon Julia Duffy (Newhart, Designing Women) as Mary Jones Davidsoul, and Kaia Gerber (Babylon, Bottoms) as Mitzi.
And as if this ensemble wasn't impressive enough, the series will feature Hollywood legends Bruce Dern and the iconic Carol Burnett.
The show's writer and executive producer is Abe Sylvia for Aunt Sylvia's Moving Picture Company. Other executive producers include Laura Dern and Jayme Lemons from Jaywalker Pictures, Kristen Wiig, Katie O'Connell Marsh, Tate Taylor (The Help), and John Norris representing Wyolah Films. In addition, Sharr White, Sheri Holman, and Boat Rocker also serve as executive producers for the show.
Palm Royale is exclusively produced for Apple TV+ by Apple Studios and is directed by Taylor, Sylvia, Claire Scanlon (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), and Stephanie Laing (Physical).
