Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale unfolds in a modern-day setting where the existence of witchcraft is a reality. The peaceful town of Sanctuary, long inhabited by witches, is suddenly shaken by murder accusations. Initially believed to be an accident, the incident has cast a shadow over this idyllic English town.
The seven-part drama series centers on the town of Sanctuary's resident witch, Sarah Fenn, whom the townspeople often rely on to solve their problems when conventional remedies have failed. But when local teen rugby star Dan Whithall, dies tragically in an apparent accident, his death exposes a terrifying undercurrent of suspicion and fear towards Sarah and her teenage daughter, Harper. Mother of the dead boy, Abigail, once Sarah’s closest friend, is wracked with grief, and to avenge her son’s death, launches a modern-day witch-hunt to get “justice”, no matter what the cost.
Elaine Cassidy (The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die, A Discovery of Witches) stars as Sarah Fenn, alongside Hazel Doupe (You Are Not My Mother) as Harper Fenn and Amy de Bhrun (Line Of Duty) as Abigail Whithall. The series also stars Stephanie Levi-John (The Spanish Princess, Silent Witness) as DCI Maggie Knight, Valerie O’Connor (Red Rock), Kelly Campbell (Vikings), and Stephen Lord (Penny Dreadful) as Ted Bolt.
Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale is executive produced by Monumental Television (Mrs Sidhu Investigates, Harlots) and is directed by Lisa Mulcahy and Justin Molotnikov.
